The Correctional Officer manages and supervises the inmates in a correctional facility. The successful candidate will have experience in the criminal justice system and familiarity with work in a corrections environment. Correctional Officers are responsible for managing inmates and observing the activities of jail inmates, keeping a record of all activities, maintaining security and preventing disturbances.

Responsibilities:

Interact with diverse groups including inmates, family members, visitors, volunteers, and community representatives.
Identify and control hazards to ensure a safe environment for inmates, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
Maintain a safe environment for inmates by monitoring assigned areas for people and contraband.
Intervene if there is a situation that involves an inmate or visitor that could lead to injury or damage to property.
Report inappropriate situations to supervisors and follow the action plan.
Identify and report problems with cell blocks, corridors, and other areas of the facility.

Salary: $51,168 per year
