Job Summary: The Director, Finance will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy, reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance. This role is instrumental in overseeing financial planning cycles, optimizing costs, and providing data-driven insights to support key business decisions. Initially an individual contributor, the Finance Director will have the opportunity to build foundational financial processes, frameworks, and tools to drive efficiency and support the company’s growth. As the organization scales, this role will expand to include team leadership and broader strategic financial management. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Design, Engineering, Construction, and Procurement, to ensure financial strategies align with operational goals. The Finance Director will play a critical role in capital allocation, infrastructure investment decisions, and financial reporting, supporting the company’s expansion in the data center and digital infrastructure industry. Key Responsibilities: Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Establish and manage financial planning cycles, including annual budgets, monthly/quarterly forecasts, and financial reviews. Model and analyze key strategic drivers to influence long-term financial planning for data center development and operations. Provide in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend monitoring, and benchmarking, to deliver actionable insights. Forecast and optimize data center-related costs, ensuring financial efficiency and strategic cost management. Data Center Infrastructure & Cost Management Serve as the finance owner for all data center (DC) infrastructure forecasting and planning. Collaborate with Engineering and DC Operations teams to track, report, and forecast infrastructure-related KPIs. Partner with Design, Engineering, Construction, and Procurement teams to establish cost benchmarks and schedule delivery metrics. Support procurement and vendor negotiations with financial analysis and benchmarking data to optimize costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and project execution. Financial Reporting & Business Intelligence Create and maintain financial reports and dashboards using NetSuite, Excel, and BI tools to support executive decision-making. Leverage ERP and financial data to provide actionable insights that enhance business performance. Prepare and present financial reports, KPIs, and dashboards to finance leadership and executive teams. Work with the Accounting team to improve accounting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Capital Investment & Strategic Decision-Making Develop financial models to evaluate ROI, NPV, and IRR for data center investments and strategic initiatives. Create business cases for capital allocation and expansion, ensuring optimal use of capital resources. Support capital allocation decisions to optimize the company's overall rate of return. Assist in customer contract negotiations by analyzing and presenting cost structures and benchmarks. Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration Continuously improving financial processes, driving automation, efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration. Ensure alignment between financial planning, operational goals, and company milestones. Collaborate with the VP of Finance to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term vision. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA is a plus. Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least the last 3 years within the data center industry. Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, and capital allocation, with a strong understanding of large-scale infrastructure investments. Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting tools, including Excel, ERP systems, and business intelligence tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into strategic business insights. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with a proactive approach to process improvement and automation. Analytical Ability: Make data-driven decisions, assess cost structures, and identify potential risks, ensuring informed and strategic outcomes. Influence and Persuasion: Able to effectively advocate for their position, build consensus, and secure favorable agreements without compromising relationships. Operational Paranoia: Anticipate risks, identify vulnerabilities, and proactively implement mechanisms to prevent and minimize disruptions and safeguard safety, security, availability, and scale. Relationship Management: Cultivate trust, collaboration, and long-term partnerships, while building a broad network that provides valuable benchmarking, industry insights, and alternative sourcing options. Leadership and Team Management: Inspire and guide teams to achieve their objectives while enhancing performance, effectively managing disputes, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Expected Salary Range: $180,000 – $220,000 plus Bonus.
