This annual event brings together survivors, families, and community members in support of ovarian cancer awareness and research. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Event Director – Charity Run/Walk to help us bring this event to life. This volunteer leadership role will oversee planning and execution of race logistics (5K, 10K, and 1K walk), while ensuring a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all participants. Key Responsibilities Lead overall planning and execution of the SHOC Walk & Run. Coordinate race logistics including permits, course setup, timing, and safety. Manage relationships with vendors, sponsors, and city officials. Recruit, organize, and oversee volunteers to support day-of activities. Collaborate with SHOC Foundation leadership on budget, fundraising goals, and event promotion. Ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards. Drive participant engagement to create a welcoming, community-driven experience. Requirements Prior experience directing or coordinating community races, charity runs, or endurance events. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to collaborate with volunteers, vendors, and community partners. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Comfortable managing multiple moving parts and troubleshooting issues in real time. Passion for making a positive impact through community events.
