Role Overview

The Events & Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing every stage of the event process from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up, ensuring each event meets the highest standards of quality, service, and guest satisfaction at Grand Station Entertainment. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients and internal departments. The ideal candidate is an innovator, has strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a proven track record in exceeding sales targets in event and catering management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming calls to provide information, answer questions, and assist potential clients
  • Coach and develop Sales Coordinators to ensure successful execution of events
  • Responsible for identifying and pursuing new sales leads
  • Build and maintain existing client relationships
  • Create sales strategies to meet revenue targets
  • Meet monthly with the Sales team to identify and implement systems to increase revenue
  • Lead the planning and execution of all aspects of events, collaborating with requesters on menu planning, service details, pricing, and payment arrangements
  • Prepare detailed and accurate catering proposals, contracts, and event orders
  • Coordinate with key departments, including Food and Beverage, Bowl, Arcade, and Marketing to ensure all event details are properly addressed
  • Utilize effective cost control processes when recommending products and services to clients, balancing client satisfaction with budget management
  • Work with the Food & Beverage Director to provide custom menus when required for special events
  • Develop comprehensive, detailed event plans that cover equipment needs, food set ups, and any special client requests to ensure flawless execution
  • Create and distribute a weekly event roster for departments with an overview of event details
  • Provide financial breakdowns, including details on gratuities service charges, deposits and final payments for payroll
  • Create and update training guides for the sales and events teams, ensuring consistent practices
  • Conduct performance evaluations for departmental staff
  • Exemplify and reinforce Grand Station’s core values in all decision making, interactions, and team development
  • Provide on-site management for large events, ensuring event staff delivers high-quality experience to clients

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in customer service, event management, catering, or hospitality leadership
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a guest-focused mindset
  • Professional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Event Management Software
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $16-$18/hour tailored to candidate’s experience and qualifications
  • Event Commissions: Opportunity to earn additional income through commissions based on reaching quarterly goals in event booking and coordination
