Client Overview: Our client provides a professional, innovative work setting. They are looking to add a
Junior Chemist to their team. They have a friendly but fast-paced environment that will challenge Junior Chemists at their highest level of success.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $20/hr - $25/hr DOE
Position Overview: The Junior Chemist position is currently open and will be a contract assignment offering competitive benefits. The Junior Chemist will be expected to know formulation chemistry and have experience developing personal, cosmetic, or household products in an R&D setting - experience in fragrance compounding or applications would also provide a suitable knowledge base for this role. The Junior Chemist will report to Senior Scientists and help in product development, testing, analysis, and anything else needed to support the R&D process.
Responsibilities of the Junior Chemist: - Formulating/batching, stability and viscosity testing, potentially color matching (based on product line), and troubleshooting processes regarding the development of new personal care products.
- Developing batches from scratch and improving on existing batches.
- Creative problem-solving with professionals inside the team, as well as outside.
- Multitasking in the lab.
- Strictly adhering to a cGMP environment and following necessary safety protocols.
- Communicating and acting in a highly professional manner.
- Following the correct channels to address technical or other issues in or supporting the lab work.
- Maintain a highly organized and accurate lab notebook of all work completed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Junior Chemist: - Experience working with raw materials.
- Academic or industry experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to share and teach in the area of expertise.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Junior Chemist: - Expertise in chemistry, understanding surface-interface properties, and surface characterization is a plus.
Education Requirements: - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a science-related field is required.
- Associate's degree with related experience can be considered with significant years of R&D lab experience.
- PhDs will not be considered for this position.
