Responsibilities Monitor and maintain stock level of medical supplies used for applicant medical processing and restock as necessary. Perform Quality Review Procedures on medical records. Obtain blood samples and perform other laboratory tests, using safety precautions. Ensure OSHA requirements are met for the proper use, storage, and disposal of needles. Brief applicants on proper collection procedures for a variety of laboratory tests. Direct urine observation/examination of same-sex military applicants. Maintain control log, custody logs and rosters, and treatment center referral list in accordance with regulation and policies. In-process applicants and verify identity using previously captured biometrics (digital fingerprints and photographs). This position requires the use of restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves and non-exposing footwear. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing assistance to higher level staff on physical examinations and documenting patient’s medical information into computer databases, operating and maintaining medical equipment; laboratory centrifuges, and administering optical tests, audiometer tests, electrocardiogram, vital signs, urine collection, and performing phlebotomy procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: Successful completion of at least one half year (9 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a master’s degree in a field directly related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: Medical Technology/Technician, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or a related field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
