Paralegal Investigator (Paralegal)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 40 hours/week

Interview Type: In-person only

Key Requirements

  • Local candidates only (must reside in the Phoenix, AZ area at time of submission)
  • Must be available for in-person interviews within 1 week of posting close
  • Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer
  • Background check & drug screening required (HireRight)
  • Security clearance required
  • Civil litigation experience required
  • Minimum 3+ years of paralegal experience
  • Experience assisting attorneys with writing and proofreading legal documents

Job Summary

The Paralegal Investigator will provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys in civil litigation matters. This role involves legal research, document preparation, case management, calendaring, trial preparation, and coordination with attorneys and support staff. The paralegal will manage both electronic and paper case files while ensuring accuracy, compliance with legal procedures, and adherence to office policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with case preparation for trial
  • Conduct legal research and cite verification
  • Draft and proofread pleadings, motions, memoranda, disclosures, appellate briefs
  • Prepare responses to discovery requests
  • Organize, index, and maintain legal files and databases
  • Calendar and docket court appearances, hearings, deadlines, and depositions
  • Prepare trial notebooks, exhibits, witness lists, and jury instructions
  • Review outgoing legal documents for accuracy, formatting, and grammar
  • Review and distribute incoming correspondence per office procedures
  • Confer with attorneys regarding case status and legal issues
  • Train and mentor new legal support staff
  • Assist with special projects and general office maintenance
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Court filing requirements and deadlines

  • Organizing and managing high-volume litigation files
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with:
  • MS Outlook
  • Electronic case filing systems
  • Case management and document management software

Abilities

  • Manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Analyze legal issues and evidence
  • Assist attorneys during trials and hearings
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
  • Travel within Arizona (including occasional overnight stays)

Preferred Qualification

  • Paralegal Certificate
